Celebrating a wedding anniversary away from the bustling streets of New York City calls for something truly special. When Mittal reached out to plan their session in Playa del Carmen, they chose our Couples Photoshoot a dedicated experience designed to capture both intimate romantic connection and high-fashion movement.
Mittal picked our rich Emerald Green gown, a tone that brings an earthy elegance against the coast. But before stepping into yards of flowing silk, she had a thoughtful personal request: she wanted to start the morning capturing relaxed, candid couple portraits with her husband wearing their everyday vacation clothes.
Many travelers worry when morning skies greet them with soft clouds instead of direct sun. In reality, photographers love an overcast morning.
A cloudy sky acts like nature’s giant softbox. It eliminates harsh eye shadows, softens contrast across the water, and produces subtle, luminous skin tones that look effortlessly editorial.
We kicked off their Couples session with a brief casual walk on the sand. Dressed in their own comfortable outfits, Mittal and her husband shared quiet laughs, strolled hand in hand, and settled into the rhythm of the beach. It was the perfect gentle warm-up before introducing the dress.
Stepping into a flying dress with a long train can feel a little intimidating at first. Sensing that Mittal felt slightly shy in front of the lens, we took our time sharing practical movement tips: where to place hands, how to shift weight with the breeze, and how to let the train move naturally without overthinking each pose.
Once she realized how effortless the movement really is, the shyness vanished completely.
We captured stunning solo portraits showcasing the deep green silk against the calm sea, followed by romantic couple frames with her husband stepping back into the shot alongside the flowing gown. The contrast between his classic look and her sweeping emerald silhouette created pure romance.
During our breaks between shots, Mittal mentioned a bucket-list dream that sparked an instant connection: she had been dreaming of doing an underwater cenote photoshoot.
While our underwater and cenote creative sessions are bespoke experiences that we don’t publicly list across our main packages, it is a world we know intimately. While she opted to save that aquatic adventure for the future, she promised that on their next trip to Mexico, she will take the plunge into the freshwater caverns with us.
